Bologna have confirmed that captain Lewis Ferguson will be out for action for three weeks with a muscle injury.
The Scotland midfielder was initially included in Vicenzo Italiano's starting line-up for the Serie A clash with Napoli on Monday night but was then taken out of the team before kick-off as Il Rossoblu extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven games in the 1-1 draw.

It comes less than a year after the former Hamilton and Aberdeen player suffered a serious knee injury that prevented him from going to the Euros with Scotland in Germany last summer.
Ferguson has regained his fitness and form since making his return to action in November but his latest setback could have a negative impact on Bologna's chances of qualifying for the Champions League for the second week running.
The Stadio Renato Dall'Ara side currently sit in fourth place in Serie A with seven matches remaining but are just a single point above Juventus, with Lazio, Roma and Fiorentina following in quick succession.
Italiano's side face a tricky run in to try and hold onto their position, with games against Atalanta, Inter, Juve and AC Milan before the season draws to a close.
Bologna will also be without star goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski for three weeks, after the Polish stopper limped off in Monday night's draw against Napoli with a hip problem.
A club update on both players read: "The tests that Lukasz Skorupski and Lewis Ferguson underwent revealed respectively: a low-grade lesion of the right adductor, and a low-grade lesion of the right rectus femoris. Recovery times for both are three weeks."

Fortunately, the layoff won't deny both players the chance to lead Bologna out in the final of the Coppa Italia should they finish the job off against Empoli in the second leg of their last four showdown.
Bologna racked up a 3-0 win away from home in their first encounter last week and will continue their bid to win a first piece of silverware since 1974 when they host the Tuscan side on April 24.
The winners will then face the victors of derby clash between Inter and Milan in the showpiece final on Wednesday, May 14.
The outcome of that tie is very much still in the balance, following a 1-1 draw at San Siro last Wednesday.
Should Ferguson and Bologna go onto lift the famous trophy, then he would become only the second Scot to pick up a Coppa Italia winner's medal, following on from Graeme Sounness' triumph during his spell with Sampdoria in 1986.
