Softek Beginnings

Our founder, David Fletcher, is from Overland Park, Kansas, and graduated from University of Kansas School of Engineering, but only after writing a computer program that solves structural engineering assignments.

He founded Softek Solutions in 1995 to continue developing computer software to aid Oracle Cerner clients in optimizing their EMR system performance. Now, after 25 years, we still specialize in Oracle Cerner because we believe it is the best EMR system—and Softek is your strategic Oracle Cerner partner and EMR consultant.

Without Panther, we could have been billing incorrectly for a long time without identifying broken connections within Cerner. It was through the Panther process when we were reviewing the findings and what the system had identified that our pharmacy realized that something behind the scenes had been connected to the wrong orderable. Through Panther, they were able to identify where the connection was broken. Since they fixed it, they don’t get the errors anymore. Just having this window into the connections that are behind the scene was extremely educational.

Softek’s engineers seem to know our third-party revenue cycle system better than anybody else I have ever worked with. They understand and know what tables to pull respective information from. They don’t have a problem pulling up the information and educating me as to why they are linking a specific table or why they are pulling data from a certain place. The vendor has a much broader understanding of the product than someone from our third-party vendor's support group. We have good luck with just picking up a phone and calling an engineer from Softek, and Softek's people can quickly just answer our questions. They are just really good to work with.

The only thing I would do differently with Softek would be to engage them on the system build months earlier. I wish I had found Softek earlier.

Softek doesn't promise that they can do something and then not do it. When we give them feedback, within a week’s time, they check in to see whether we can log in and to see whether things are any better. Softek is very proactive. Softek doesn’t let a title get in the way of moving forward. They reach out. They check on us. They ask us whether we are getting what we need, whether the response time is okay, and whether there is anything they can do differently.

Softek has been able to develop some new productivity tools for us where we can really gauge the productivity of our team members. A huge gap for us has been getting valid productivity without having to have someone keep a manual count. The productivity tools that the vendor developed for us have allowed us to drill down without having to go into the revenue cycle. We can see all of the respective activities inside of the system.
